Hazlewoods magazine features Pate's House Art

It has been wonderful to see our student artwork in print in the Hazlewoods business magazine.

It's always such a pleasure to walk into the Art corridor and soak up the sights and smells of the art rooms - a little oasis of calm in amongst the hussle and bussle of the main school. Student art work is showcased all around the school with walls, corridors and window sills stuffed full of exhibits. It's so nice to round a corner and be faced with something that conveys a special message or makes a connection. Pieces are ever changing as new projects replace old, exam work is showcased and Year 13's move on, taking their masterpieces with them.

Back in November, Cheltenham based Independent Business Advisors and Chartered Accountants, Hazlewoods (who are York House sponsors), launched a competition that ran in parallel with the annual Pate's House Art competition to design the front cover of their 2022 business magazine. It was a super opportunity for the whole school to get their arty thinking caps on to ponder the brief of 'Beyond' (with the magazine titled 'Beyond the Horizon').

Director of Marketing at Hazlewoods, Ali Townsend and Marketing Manager, Sam Round had the hard but pleasurable task of judging from the many entries. The magazine was recently published and Sam recently dropped in to Pate's to personally deliver copies to Head of Art, Hannah Gardner and House System Co-Ordinator, Sophie Dodds. It is absolutely wonderful to see the winning piece from Year 8 student Lola gracing the front cover and a collection of highly commended works showcased inside - a very eye-catching and vibrant cover of a magazine which will be distributed both in and out of county to many thousands of Hazlewoods' customers! Thank you to Hazlewoods for including Pate's in this activity and we look forward to seeing what other schools produce for the future editions.
