Baby Bina Modules

I started my first year at the old school in the High Street and Patch Picksley was my form master.

Baby Bina :

Our Maths Master was explaining binary notation and encouraged pupils to help build a simple Binary computer!

Each of us who volunteered were given some parts to be assembled at home but I recall the first introduction to this project was at his home in Prestbury, I think that's where it was? The sketch above is how I recall each module of the computer. Each module fitted alongside the next and so on. There were two levers on the front of the module and lamps which lit up when the levers were operated.

I wonder if anyone remembers and / or was involved in this project?

Model Railway Society :

I was one of the founder members of this society and I had the idea of re enacting the Rainhill Trials of 1829 but with OO gauge track and locomotives. We setup a long length of track in one of the House halls having lined up the tables end to end. We measured a distance from the start to finish lines and borrowed a stop watch so that we could measure the time taken for each loco between start and finish lines. Based on the timings we then calculated the scale speed of each loco. My Princess Elizabeth loco was the fastest with a scale speed of just over 200 mph !

Anyone else remember these two memories ?
