The tricky House Sponsors round
The tricky House Sponsors round

Congratulations to Pembroke – winners of House University Challenge 2023!  It was a closely fought battle, with teams of four Sixth Formers competing for House glory! Performing under pressure, under spotlights in house colours and armed with their percussion buzzers (tambourines), the students answered questions set by each department within the school and also by our House sponsors. Our thanks to Quizmaster Chris Nicholas (Head of Sixth Form), David Crowe (Music Department), and Sophie Kingscote (History & the House System) for organising what is always a fiercely competitive but super enjoyable event.

Special thanks go to our House Sponsors for their cracking questions and tireless support of the Houses this year - James-Barry Accounting, Harrison Clark Rickerbys, Matriks, Homeground Pharmacy and Hazlewoods. One of their questions in particular sticks in our minds:

Which famous adventurer’s dad opened Hazlewoods Staverton office in 1988?

a)    Indiana Jones

b)    Steve Backshall

c)     Bear Grylls

Answer: C!
