Taking place in PE and Games lessons, students in Years 7-9 entered one field and one track event of their choice, Year 10’s one track event and Year 12’s two track events. Students were awarded points for participation and then additional points based on performance (not placing), which proved itself to be a very fair, inclusive, competitive, fun solution! This is the first time for decades EVERYONE has competed in the house event and we are super proud that every student got the chance to shine. Our thanks go to the PE department for all of their hard work in organising, measuring and recording the students efforts and giving us the first winner of the House Athletics shield - Gloucester!
Many congratulations to all the students - here are the final placings:
1st – Gloucester House 2951pts
2nd – York House 2909pts
3rd – Beaufort House 2902pts
4th – Richmond House 2881pts
5th – Pembroke House 2763pts
There were jubilant scenes when two long standing Year 7 Girls’ track records set by Julia Cooke in 2001 were broken. Amy set a new 800 m time of 2:38 and Maddie smashed the 1500 m with an incredible 5:15 - well done girls!!! Here's a listing of the track and field records (set on official school sports days) some of which have stood for decades. Do post a comment if you see your record still standing.
