The House Sponsorship programme was introduced in 2011 to help fund the running of the many house activities that make Pate’s Pate’s! Local businesses were keen to partner with the school and although we have seen some changes in supporters over the years, it is fantastic that one business has remained constant since the beginning – we thank Harrison Clark Rickerbys for supporting Gloucester house for a decade!  Alongside HCR, we are proud to have Hazlewoods, Homeground Pharmacy, James-Barry and Matriks as our 2020-2021 sponsors and we are so thrilled that they will all be continuing their support for 2021-2022!

Our sponsors are invited to attend House events where they have the chance to meet their House officials, participate in judging (e.g. House Bakeoff) or make a contribution to a competition (e.g. House Public Speaking). Sponsor support is acknowledged in event programmes, the Headmaster’s Message, in our bi-annual school magazine ‘Pate’s Progress’ and by the houses in their termly newsletters to parents.  This year due to the pandemic, the house officials produced an end of year thank you video message for their sponsors – these were so successful that it is hoped that the practice will become part of the norm!

Our House system, and the competitions that we run under its umbrella, provides the opportunity for our students to participate in key elements of school life across many disciplines. It enables talent to shine, confidence and teamwork to develop and leadership opportunities to be explored whilst also being crucial to house unity flourishing across the year groups. House Drama, Music, Public Speaking, Sports, Art and Bake-Off are but a handful of the house experiences which bind our students so tightly together from the moment they enter the school in Year 7 until they leave in Year 13. Our House sponsors secure this provision, stimulating the qualities just described but also providing so much friendly competitive fun for the students and their families – we thank all of our House sponsors for their support!
